In conjunction with Earth Day Network, Google Maps is now offering a nice rundown of environmentally friendly activities, attractions and amenities for some major cities, including our beloved SF.

For other areas, you can use this tip from Google Maps to find green-friendly places:
Search for “environmentally friendly hotel” instead of just “hotel.”
