Bad violin on BART
Someone sent me this YouTube video link awhile ago, and I’m just getting around to posting it here. If you’ve ever taken BART or MUNI downtown, you’ve probably seen this guy. Most likely, you’ve probably heard his… unique musical talent.

I walk by this guy every day. Interestingly, he’s always looking at sheet music on a stand. I haven’t been able to get a good look at it, but maybe he’s interpreting the works of John Cage or Anthony Braxton.
I’ve seen the sheet music. It’s basically several lines of:
C D E H F G
D G A C D A
…so on.
It doesn’t make sense (at least to me) and both the lines and the letters are hand drawn (shakily). In fact, it appears that the letters are about an inch or so high. Who knows how it sounds to him?
hah unique.. ure too kind, the sheet music is icing on the cake
That isn’t as bad (or at least as loud) as the creepy clown who plays trumpet in San Pedro Square in San Jose. Maybe I should take a video of him next time I am there to compare…
My most hated street musician is the saxophonist outside the ballpark who plays the same two lines of “Take My Out to the Ballgame” over and over, followed by “Pop Goes the Weasel.”
Hah! I just saw this guy this afternoon. There was some older woman trying to sing opera dowm the hall. Utterly horrid!
I was going to make a blanket statement about hating all street musicians, but then I remembered the cellist I saw in Golden Gate Park once, and I instantly retracted my statement.
I wonder if people give him money to make him stop.
