Small Business Week hits the City

If there’s one thing you can say about San Francisco is that it’s small business friendly. This week the Small Business Commission, along with some big backers like Wells Fargo and Microsoft are holding a TON of seminars, fairs, meet-ups and parties all geared toward the small business owner. If you are a small business owner or are interested in it you should definitely check out the calendar of events because there is a ton of events to help get you started and network. There is a kick-off party at city hall in a few hours that you can still RSVP for for free. There will be a lot of networking and schmoozing going on but that’s what business is all about isn’t it :-) The websites calls tonight’s event:

Help us celebrate National Small Business Week in San Francisco with this fun and productive evening for networking with other entrepreneurs, corporations and organizations. Come meet new customers and find plenty of leads. We’ll also be featuring Flavors of San Francisco, with tastings from outstanding local restaurants, and a Resource Fair for you to connect with the wealth of assistance available to your business. If you’re in business, this is an evening not to be missed.

So if you’re a budding entrepreneur then this is the week for you to get out and learn from the pros.

What is that shape behind the initial SF in the Small Business Week logo? It looks like a rat, doesn’t it? WTF?

Yeah, it’s an uber shitty logo to go with the uber shitty website. Hopefully they know more about running businesses than they do about design and websites.

Not a bad speach from the Mayor tonight. And the food was pretty good, although I ended up getting something to eat afterward. Anyone else make it? Also, I wonder now what defines a small business?

I wish I had gotten here earlier. There was also the SF Chamber of Commerce Expo yesterday. Great time. I learned a great deal talking to folks.
Does anyone know if there is a master list of these sort of Small Business Week events — for the whole US. Would love to share it with our users. (I manage the QuickBooks / Small Business community website.)
