Another Bonds Reality Show… the 715th Ball

Sitting at Torpedo Point- Chrissy Field- today eating a sandwich, I started talking to this guy in a baseball uniform. Turns out he’s in a reality show. The lucky guy to catch the 715th Barry Bonds homer gets 1M dollars. Not to be confused with the other Barry Bonds reality show going on. I have been unable to confirm this anywhere on the Internet, so it is total hearsay, though I can’t really imagine what they would gain from lying. If this is common knowledge, my apologies.
So yeah, they’re a team from Toronto, 8 Men Out, and they run out and play outfield along with whatever visiting game is there, and they tour with the Giants, hanging out in the outfield waiting for the 715th ball. This fellow was happy, he had never been to California.
More details after jump.
It was tough being in the bus with the rest of the team for so long, though, including a 17 day journey from Toronto to the hall of fame, to the field of dreams, and back to SF. The most interested and energetic part of the show seemed to be the two grips/production assistants, who played a long game of catch while I was there. This team, 8 men out, play baseball everywhere. There is a lot of waiting involved in making the reality show, he said, so they just end up playing a lot of baseball all the time, in parking lots, on the pier there near the Warming Hut, etc. A guy missed a throw and a ball rolled into the Bay while I was sitting there talking, so I’m not super confident that that guy, at least, will get the 715th Bonds homer.

Hey Anna,
Not yo be disparaging but, either you don;t listen very well or you can’t read. The show is called “8 MEN IN” as is plainly crested on the jerseys and ball caps that we wear outside the stadium and the orange jumpsuits we wear inside the stadiums. And what is this business about: “…they run out and play outfield along with whatever visiting game(sic) is there…”? I don’t think MLB would allow that . You need to get your facts straight if you are going to be posting stuff on the web.
I stand corrected- thanks for the info.
