Matza Sacher Torte

Yes, there are pastries you can eat during Passover. Across from the ACT (saw the Rivals, quite good!) there is a little deli– very Dashiell Hammet looking- that has a pastry counter that opens onto the street. We were teasing a friend about Passover and the woman working there piped up, “We use matza flour in these pastries,” and I could have sworn she was pointing to the sacher torte! If you go there, get the almond crescent, it’s far better than the rum cake or the sacher torte. Happy end of Passover everyone! I am Catholic so new to things Passover, which I just read about here. A friend of mine moans that there are no good Jewish delis in the Bay Area. Is this true? I’d imagne the Richmond has some good ones.

I’ve heard good things about Moishe’s Pippic in my Hayes Valley neighborhood. (Being vegan, most of it is lost on me alas.)

The JEWISH DELIs around here are not so much bad but wildly overpriced … David’s, Sauls in Berkeley etc.

The closest good JEWISH DELI [to SF] is Brent’s
    Deli in Northridge, CA.

    ok tnx. –psb
