Hello April!

So we got a nice April Fools from Mother Nature with one single solitary sunny day and it’s back to the doom and gloom so I thought I’d start off the month with a few cool freebies that go on at the beginning of each month.

First off we have the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art or better known as SFMOMA on Third St. The first Tuesday of every month is free day so you can browse the gallery at your leisure for zero coin. Some exhibits require paid admission though but general gallery admission is free. Some of the exhibits currently on display are:

Hours & Directions.

Second we have our own local San Francisco Zoo. The first Wednesday of every month is another designated Free Day. They do suggest taking public transportation since parking is limited. They also reserve the right to limit admission so get there early if you want to get in free and clear. You know it’s a bay area zoo when they have their own podcast! Hours & Directions.

Third and last on our list is the monthly 2600 meeting held around the world on the first Friday of every month. 2600 Meetings exist as a forum for all interested in technology to meet and talk about events in technology-land, learn, and teach. Meetings are open to anyone of any age or level of expertise. Meetings are from approximately 5 pm to 8 pm unless otherwise noted. Here are the local NorCal meeting spots and times with payphone numbers if you just want to call in and say hi:

  • Sacramento: Camille’s at the corner of Sunrise and Madison.
  • San Francisco: 4 Embarcadero Plaza (inside). Payphones: (415) 398-9803, 9804, 9805, 9806.
  • San Jose: Outside the cafe at the MLK Library at 4th and E. San Fernando. 6 pm.

Or you can check the full meeting list if you’re out and about travelling the world.

There’s nothing like getting something for nothing even if you do have to go out in the rain to get it. Stay dry.

It’s NorCal (not NoCal). We aren’t talking about Tab cola here.
