Some days I’m bored, but not that bored

(I’m jokingly putting this in the “Sports” category; this story just barely fits the description. Maybe getting into fights with soccer hooligans is considered sport by some, too.)

Some Silicon Valley engineers (unfortunately, none that I know personally, so I can call them up and rib them) are participating in something they call Gentlemen’s Fight Club. Donning a minimum of protective gear, they have 1-on-1 and 2-on-2 fights with rolled-up and duct-taped magazines, cookie sheets, Hello Kitty toilet seat lids… You have to watch the video to see just how that works (and be warned, if you’re squeamish: there’s a little blood). And then—and this is my favorite part—they have a guy in a tuxedo to do the after-fight interviews. Is there a vlog of this somewhere?

Dear god in heaven. What a bunch of fucking twats. They’re giving software engineers a seriously bad name. Not because they like to figght but because they do it in a well lit garage with padding and stupid looking clothes. If you’re not going to embrace the ideals of Fight Club don’t use the name. Get some nerf and go to the YMCA already. You wanna start a real fight club strap $100 to your shirtless chest and walk through the Tenderloin at 2 a.m. and you’ll get a nice little scrappin fest. And if you did that I’d not even mock you for wearing hawaian shorts…
