While DC is busy talking about the Tag/Art Dichotomy, San Francisco is embracing the tag as street sign/business marker. This morning, as I walked down Linden Alley, there’s a car shop right before you get to Blue Bottle Coffee, who marks their Smog Check Entrance in Blue Spraypaint in a former tagger’s hand on a blank metal sign bolted to the cement wall.

In DC? Graffiti. In San Francisco? Signage. Even better.
