Never Give Up Your Contact
I met a woman the other day that works somewhere in the Mayor’s office. She said she was interviewing on Friday for a higher-up position, and that a lot of things rely on one’s personal contacts. She said that co-workers openly sold contacts for anywhere between $50 and $500! I felt so ignorant hearing this so candidly and having a hard time swallowing (albiet obvious) that the ethics of politics were just as shady as other companies that buy lists of people for marketing. I mean, I knew about trading contacts, but selling them for large sums of money…and being “worth more” according to the size of your Rolodex. Sheesh. Swimming with sharks.
