SF Erotic Health Day

Flashnews reports about the San Francisco Erotic Health Day.

Quote:

Mark your calendar because Saturday (Nov. 13) is the first ever “Erotic Health Day” — at least in San Francisco.

City leaders have dedicated the day to help raise money for the St. James Infirmary, a clinic that provides health care and social services to sex workers in the Bay Area.

The clinic currently has an $80,000 shortfall and organizers hope to raise funds by getting strip clubs, exotic dancers, massage parlors and prostitutes to donate 10 percent of all Nov. 13 earnings.

Infirmary research coordinator Alix Lutnick — who also works as a fetish model — says the center is needed because many sex workers don’t have health insurance.

Even if they do, many are forced to deal with judgmental doctors and nurses who won’t treat them.

This will be the first “Erotic Health Day” on record, and Lutnick hopes it inspires folks around the world to address the needs of sex workers in their own communities.

2005 Erotic Health Day is already planned, as I heard.
