WWDC in SF this week
This week is the Worldwide Developer Conference, a.k.a WWDC, here in SF. It’s the “Other Big Apple Event” that takes place in the Moscone Center every year (the other, of course, being the MacWorld Expo, natch).
Welcome to all the visitors from out of town for the conference! The downtown area is sure to be bustling with Apple geeks of all flavors, even though the conference caters to developers. Just a caution to those of us who were unaware… downtown streets and local hangouts are sure to be very full this week. But if you’re into hanging out with Apple Geeks (as I am), take this opportunity to mingle!
The news so far as of the keynote? Apple is to switch to using Intel chips in their machines starting in 2006, with all machines fully transitioned to Intel chips by end of 2007. Intel, of course, is another local (Silicon Valley) company.
