SF in pictures: Sutro Tower

Shot this photo yesterday morning. When I finally got up to the tower and stared up at it I really was glad there wasn’t an earthquake. The tower is damn impressive when you get right up to it. It’s a tough walk from the Haight but not terrible at all.

I used to have a friend who lived across the street from this beast, and it messed with nearly every appliance in the house. Tv and cell reception sucked. Turn on the radio and the speakers buzzed.

    Sure looks cool though.

I love the Sutro tower myself. Here’s my favorite pic of it, taken from my living room at dawn one day.

I think the tower needs a paint job though, no?

You can drive up to La Avanzada Street (take Clarendon Avenue to Dellbrook Avenue) where there is usually a parking space or two available just outside the Sutro Tower property.

From there you can walk around the tower for photography, recreation or exercise.

Sutro Tower is mesmerizing. I am lucky to be living near it.
