A call for soup dumplings

I have a serious craving for soup dumplings right now. Like mad insane cravings that threaten to devour my soul. Problem is, I don’t know where to find them in San Francisco. Yes, I’m Chinese, and I should know these things, but I don’t.

So I beg of you — where do I go in this fine city for some awesomely delicious Shanghai soup dumplings?

You have probably passed the horrid craving phase, and you will probably kick yourself when you see the name of the one place I’ve found that serves ’em:

    Shanghai Dumpling

    3319 Balboa at 34th, SF

    387-2088

    Open for Lunch and Dinner

    Closed Tuesdays

I am also looking for someplace in San Francisco that serves soup dumplings, shau lon bau, such as those at the New Green Bo in New York. I can’t seem to find them anywhere here. In a city this big with this many Chinese restaurants you would think at least one would serve these.

Anyone know where to get them?
