Anybody got a quarter?

So they’re hiking up the prices on the MUNI. I still think that $54 for a monthly fast pass is the best thing in town. I’ve driven my car twice in the past month and I’m in hog heaven. I’m sure this little price hike will stir up a load of whining but not from me I can guarantee. It’s such a deal to not have to worry about paying for parking tickets or the hassle of the other idiots on the road that I’ll gladly fork over the extra $9 a month.

Dammit! It’s not the price hike per se that bugs me – it’s the search for coins. Endless. I’m already terminally one nickel or dime short.

And, I’ve been told, this is why MUNI hasn’t been selling tokens lately – people have be hording them. Wish I’d thought of that.

In this city, public transit is the only way to go. A car will make you miserable. I don’t have any issue with paying a buck and a half, but I do have big problems with the way MUNI is managed. That said, it is better than it was a few years ago. They mostly arrive on schedule now. It used to be that you could wait 2 hours, and then 4 busses would come along together, as if they were being towed.

I have only had one day when they were really behind. Rest of the time they’re pretty spot on. And with the ability to see the nextbus site on my Sidekick I can leave the house at just the right time to get there within a minute or two of the train so it’s pretty rockin.

I fell victim to this last week when I had no idea there was a price hike. I did not have a quarter and had to find a place to make change, which added 20 minutes onto my bus trip. Grr.
