Dear Committee: You pay attention. You do realize that this metroblog isn’t all about telling you what events to go to, yes? We’re also allowed to express our own opinions, our own tastes and distates, and yes, to incorporate our personal lives and “egos” into our entries. I’m not sure why you infer that the person is insecure when you’re just going by a single blog entry and don’t even know who he is. Quite frankly, if you don’t like the incorporation of our personal lives into these blog entries, you can go elsewhere for your event listing needs.
If you are so adamant about changing the way this metroblog works, I would encourage you to contact the person who runs the site and apply to be a contributor. That way, you can actually practice what you preach.

There’s no editors on any metblogs sites, that’s the point – it’s the city from the view of people who live there. No editor could tell me how I see LA, nor would I want one to, which is why we have the sites set up like that. We don’t have editors, and have no interest in having them, so telling us our sites are badly edited is a joke. That’s what we are trying to do.

The reference to Gothamist wasn’t about the content of their page, but the quality of their content. I didn’t make that clear enough.
Gothamist posts tightly edited copy, which is relevant , and without extraneous crap. The same can be said of your ny.metblogs site and blogging.la sites. They are either tightly edited or better written, and are a pleasure to read.
The problem with sf.metblogs is that the good content, which an audience actually would want to read, is buried in posts where people blather on about details of their personal lives that are neither pertinent or interesting.
Of course, instead of actually reading what I’m writing, your San Francisco staff responds in a typical San Francisco way, with indignant rage and name calling. Very nice.

Dear Committee-
A few points:
- That CNN article had the numbers grossly wrong.
- Gothemist is doing something totally different than we are. Your complaint is like saying “ebay get’s TONS more traffic than FARK so fark is clearly doing something wrong.” We’re not doing something wrong, we’re playing a different game. There could never be another event listed on this site and it would still be accomplishing what we are trying to do just fine.
- The fact that you are volunteering editorial services illustrates your inability to grasp that we are playing a different game. You are telling FARK that their auction tools suck. We are laughing at you.
- It’s also rather amusing that you think your advice should be heeded since you are too chicken shit to use your real name. You are clearly a coward and a troll. Again, we are laughing at you.

I do pay attention! Thanks for noticing Nicole!
If sf.metblogs.com isn’t here to tell me about fun events in the city, what is its goal?
I saw in this cnn.com article that gothamist.com gets about 6 times as much traffic as the original LA edition of metblogs.com. If I were you, I wouldn’t be so quick to toss out good advice just because it rankles you.
Of course, you could let your anger get the best of you, toss out the baby with the bath water, and continue to post stuff that no one but your friends will read.
As I’ve said before, I don’t really have the time to suss out interesting events and then write something that I would be proud to have published under my name. Besides, you already have plenty of contributors with their ears much closer to the ground than mine.
What you do need is an editor. I’d be happy to volunteer my time to edit all you want. If anyone wants to take advantage of my service, all they need to do is shoot them to me in an email, and I’ll do a quickie edit and email the response back. My email address is improve.sf.metblogs.com@gmail.com.
Contrary to your personal belief, I actually do like the site, and I think it could be a very successful, popular site, with a little help.

On the surface this post is good. It’s short, to the point, and tells us about an event that’s pertinent.
The problem is that the post is a perfect example of some highly insecure person trying to demonstrate how non-conformist (and therefore cool) he is by stating that he’s anti- something mainstream, but pro- something slightly less mainstream. I’d thought we talked about ego-inflation posts guys! Pay attention!
