I was wondering where I’d left that . . .
[Cue song here].
Public art can get a bad rap. Sometimes it is pretty hideous - and sometimes it’s just a fad - but a fun fad. There were cows in Chicago (and several other cities), elk in Sacramento, angels in Los Angeles (least fun), and “party animals” (donkeys and elephants, natch) in Washington DC. Now SF has hearts (though I believe they also had cows or some other creature before).
These hearts are mostly between the Civic Center and Embarcadero. This heart is in the plaza by the Ferry Building (and, btw, Nicole is right about the daunting cheese choices at Cowgirl Cremery in the Ferry Building. But man it is some good cheese. I’d suggest the fromage blanc and the Red Hawk. Delish), and is kept company by several of its friends. They’re worth a look or two - especially if it’s a nice day - it’s good to get my art fix outside . . .

We usually sell out of our Red Hawk during the madhouse that is the Saturday Farmers Market, so if you want it, our weekly delivery from Pt. Reyes is after 1pm on Wednesdays.
Calling ahead to check also doesn’t hurt.
